Sooji Halwa

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sooji (semolina)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of ghee
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron
  • Cashews and raisins for garnish

 

Steps to prepare Sooji Halwa:

  1. Heat the ghee in a pan on medium heat. Once hot, add the sooji and sauté for 4-5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  2. Now add the sugar and 4 cups of water to the pan and mix it all. Make sure the sugar has dissolved completely.
  3. Add the cardamom powder and saffron and stir everything together.
  4. Turn down the heat to low and keep stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. This should take about 8-10 minutes.
  5. When done, turn off the heat and transfer the halwa to a serving plate. Garnish with cashews and raisins if desired.
  6. Allow it to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious sooji halwa!
